Biography
Dr. Gene James Tortorella, MD passed away at his home near Sandpoint, Idaho on the morning of Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the age of 47. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Memorial Field with Pastor Steve Nickodemus officiating and full military honors.
Gene was born on March 25, 1966 in Islip, NY to Gary and Bonnie Tortorella. He grew up and attended schools in Flagstaff, Arizona. Gene is a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Ranger in the 1/75 battalion (1986-1990). Gene studied medicine and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2000 where he also did his residency.
Gene married Wendy Marden on December 28, 2001 in Tucson, Arizona. He has been a board certified Anesthesiologist at Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint, Idaho, for the past 9 years and has enjoyed being a member of the Sandpoint community during that time.
He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Tortorella, and their three beautiful children, Leland, Ellie, and Sawyer as well as his father, Gary Tortorella, and his brother, Chris Tortorella.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Tortorella.
